Color Trends for 2011
Economic and social trends have an effect on home décor trends. This year the colors will reflect on family and preserving the past. Experts’ predict that cool neutrals and muted hues from icy grays to chocolate browns to bright reds, fuchsia purples and sapphire blues will be reflected in paints and fabrics.
I have recently attended a Benjamin Moore webinar for the 2011 Color Forcast that is based on the desire for "Balance". I thought I would share what I learned from this interesting webinar.
Here are the four trends that inspire the theme of Balance:
1. Farm
2. Order
3. Escape
4. Tribe
Farm
Farm inspired colors mirrors society's need to get back to the basics. The vibrant colors of fruit and vegetables are making a come back along with the warm colors of burlap, textured hay, creamy whites, butter yellow and Terra cotta.
Order
In today's chaos, we are definitely looking for a little order.
Minimalistic, geometric and stacking takes us to a modern form of Puritanism influence. Primary colors are back, but look for use of monochrome color schemes to continue. Look for black and white with surprising pops of color!!
Escape
This trend reflects our desire for physical and psychic journeys.
Lots of pearl and satin finishes on pastels. Pinks with carbon, lavender with chocolate browns.
Tribe
As we get back to our core values there will be a renewed sense of community.
Rich orange, spicy browns and berry hues. Tribal accents will be key elements in this trend.
I have to say that I am very excited about the color predictions for 2011. I love the warm comforting colors and the inspiration behind them.
Would love to hear your thoughts. Any favorites? Do the colors inspire you?
